for the 4th release on lit level, we have music by dj twerkbone, bringing in some soulful vibes. love trax with his warm hazy sounds. on the flip side james henry delivers, as the name of the track suggest, a party track. last but not least is the stomping techno workout of Åmnfx.

does the world need more acid? yes it does! the r-a-g trio aka dutch producers ma spaventi, g-string & aroy dee deliver three raw acid-jams with aroy on the couch working the mic. the lyrics of dreadfully nervous are based on a edgar allan poe story. dreadfully nervous (aryd s acid mix) is a gurgling brew of squelchy acid with dark vocals and pinging cowbells pulling you in all directions. coarse claps and ever more wild synths encourage you to cut loose and make for another timeless cut. dreadfully stoned is more stripped back, with a rubbery arpeggiated synth the main hook over subtle, supple drums. those dark spoken word vocals are back again and the whole thing is freaky and unsettling as a result. last of all is the bright and glistening no soul with metal hits and claps and prickly acid all bursting out of dusty chicago drums. it s raw and sure to fire the synapses just like r-a-g productions always do.

that crystalline moment we all know too well. what was saturday night has become sunday morning. pleading with sleep to come while piecing together the last few hours of the party you’ve just left. few would claim to be at their most productive at this ungodly hour. not hekkla, this is when he gets down to work.
the nachtbraker ep is the product of several of these post club jam sessions. or in the words of the artist “the same places revisited again and again in the midst of night.” translated from the dutch word “night owl”, hekkla’s latest extended play delivers on it’s promise, serving 4 cuts of floor filling goodness ready for breakfast.

dasha is back on sonic groove for her first outing on the label in six years. in this time elapsed dasha has released just two dance singles both some years ago. her last musical outing in 2015, is the stunning masterpiece experimental listening album entitled -sleepstep- on raster noton. now finally after a quite long hiatus from releasing dance music. dasha returns with -ain t no god nor king-, a four song extended play release . this deep minded, beat driven journey starts off with -katusha- a hard minimalistic, mesmerizing affair with strong delay effects on the kick drum forging a subconscious state of time and space as it echoes it way through mountainous canyons far away from civilization. next up is -dystopian drive-, a percussive song which brings an atmosphere of doom and gloom full on, with a gritty & stringent ebm bassline and tripped out layered acidic effects riding the thick bass waves. -black swan- takes it a few steps further into even darker dismal territories, a nearly nine minute journey which is a fitting sound track for surveilling a haunting post nuclear apocalypse scene from up above. -acid melancholy- is a 303 tweaked ambient sound sculpture with a metronomic pendulum rhythmic perc swinging back and forth which signals that time has run its course and the end is near.

dj octopus has been busy in the last few years, appearing often alongside steve murphy on labels like love notes, chiwax, hot haus and shall not fade. on this new double pack for house crime he goes it alone, bringing the kind of raw, off-kilter but ultimately fun vibe that the label seems to plump for. born in 86 is an absolute head driller of a track, looped up but utterly addictive, while diastemia offers a very different kind of disco-infused groove. this personality split runs throughout, ensuring there s never a dull moment diving into any of these sides of wax. check the toy is mine if you need proof that octopus knows how to throw it down.

vinyl only – after four first releases by myself, i invited three of my favorite producers and friends to take part in the first various artist ep of the label called retro future. a1 is provided by stevn.aint.leavn from the beste modus and certain circles camps. i ve been following stefan closely since the release of his big track -precious- and he is now making waves everywhere. for this record he provides -motion- a smashing house track that enlightened every dance floor i dropped it on. then comes alix alvarez, a real underground hero of the new york scene. he s been releasing tunes since more than 15 years, collaborating with mr v and franck roger. alix delivers the tune -no chaser-, a stripped back, deep and driving number that he is known for. the kind of track that made his reputation. on the other side of the record you ll find paolo rocco. he is the man of the moment, fresh from great releases on taverna tracks, rutilance or courtesy of balance to name a few. here we have -7284-, it has been a true favorite of mine over the last months. finally i round up the ep with -belle maison- a new jam i recorded a few months ago featuring an engaging french speech, mpc beats and fb-01 synths. welcome to retro future chapter one.

touch sensitive is the moniker of multi-instrumentalist and production wizard michael di francesco. his debut single body stop was one of the first tracks released on future classic, all the way back in 2004. fast-forward to 2013 and his debut ep pizza guy / show me became one of the one of the most internationally beloved releases of 2013, due to the cult status æpizza guyÆ received. since then, touch sensitive has been relentlessly touring and writing, with recent highlights including supporting performances for disclosure, cut copy, flume and flight facilities. now he is back with his infectious, 13 track debut album visions, including the return to spotlight with his eclectic first single lay down, with its blissful melodies and driving keys getting praise and features on tastemaker blogs both nationally and overseas.

newcastle born, melbourne-based producer cooper bowman steps out as roman nails with his first 12” for beat concern. following tapes on where to now? (uk), night people (us) + rhythm works (au), roman nails has maintained a steady flow of experimental techno over the last few years. utilising a minimal, cv-triggered hardware set-up and from a perspective rooted in improvisation, rn is a unique beast. the tongue-in-cheek titled, all hardware no tools, is his most concise and well-considered release to date, offering noirish synth tones, slinking basslines and captivating interplay between a 707 and 727. 300 copies.

they expect me to write something informative about the tracks on this ep here but i find it really difficult to express music in words. on top of it i went out last night, to club der visionõre, and i feel hungover and empty inside my head. so now im sitting here and all i can think of is, cant you just take a listen to the music?! the ep contains 5 tracks all made in the last couple of lousy summer months here in berlin in nostalgia for the better days. itÆs about house and a bit of electro, no gimmicks.

john tareugram presents his first physical ep on tartine records. it includes four good groovy house compositions aligning strong rhythm sections. side a is very punchy and contains the title ‘panier de basket’ wich came out via le tournedisque last year. side b, more audacious and made up of two delicious snacks will make you hungry for more in the late hours of the night…

the must have status of joey negros -remixed with love series has been firmly cemented with both dj and home listening disco lovers since the release of the first two volumes. since the last release jn has been working hard on sourcing more disco multitrack tapes and producing new remixes while the zr team have been equally dedicated to clearing and licensing these new versions. the enduringly popular mtume/lucas produced phyllis hyman soul classic you know how to love me gets a new makeover that reworks the original elements into a more dramatic version with many peaks and troughs, stretching it out to over 10 minutes. even for those love the original this new mix gives a favourite song a fresh new perspective and reason to be played again. motown sounds philly style instrumental bad mouthin was an underground hit on dance floors in new york, london and chicago from the late 70s onwards. it was also famously sampled in bob sinclar s no 1 gym tonic. the original is a pretty dense, everything in all the way through style production, whereas the jn mix opens things up in a bit with more room for the individual parts to be heard. the end result is an extremely energetic bassline driven disco cut that works super well on the dancefloor.

one year later the italian duo toms due come back to etruria , this time with magma , groovy techno ep composed by two banging original tracks and mr. ambivalent and mr cosmin trg remixes. the first is the original magma a powerful track with a big room kick and a old school melody that grows together with a simple one-note chord to create a destroying tool. the second original is stratum characterized by a power melodic chord and an energetic groove. then comes ambivalent remix, a name who doesnt need presentations, dark synth in his full style, raw drum with sharp / pungent 909 rhythms. last but not the least cosmin trg remix is a powerful techno tool, composed by a hypnotic chord wrapped by powerful techno drum groove.and space.

doorly s reptile dysfunction continues to prove itself to be one of the most vibrant and singular labels around, this time tapping up legendary producer jaydee for its latest release. jaydee is a dance music pioneer. best know for the seminal plastic dreams - a track that, somewhat terrifyingly for those who remember it the first time around, will be celebrating its 25 th anniversary next year - he has continued to be a leading light in innovative house and techno productions, releasing on r&s and ellum audio in the last few years. here, he teams up with fellow dance music visionary doorly for a searingly brilliant release on the latter s reptile dysfunction imprint. acid pressure ep presents two original cuts from jaydee, with supporting remixed from doorly and trooko. kicking things off, back into acid opens with stunningly heartfelt pads before building to a killer acid line via shimmering percussion and erotically charged vocal snatches. bring the pressure is more direct: a house roller softened by basic channel-esque chords and with added rhythm courtesy of the accompanying ragga chants. on the remix front, doorly flips back into acid into something far more menacing, with fierce synths stabs and rolling drums creating a head down stomper, while trooko chops back into pressure into pieces, crafting a thumping main room house cut from the constituent parts, complete with an epic, piano-led breakdown.

it s been quite a while since naibu’s last feature on scientific. more than a year has passed since the release of his acclaimed “case study”, a mature and eclectic quasi d’n’b album rich in live instrumentation and tons of intricate details.
and here’s a follow-up to this work a four track remix ep featuring reworks by some of the biggest names in the atmospheric deep drum & bass current of today. naibu’s already captivating take on music gets reinterpreted in four different ways, so just know that you’ll be treated with a sense of freshness and familiarity at the same time.
spanning a variety of shades of drum & bass, from hiddenwave’s deep and rolling take on “turn me down”, through seba’s nostalgic rework of “astray” and bungle’s powerful, cosmic rearrangement of “case study”, to future engineers heavyweight, solid-basslined reinvention of “fighting for attention”, the ep acts as an excellent supplement to naibu’s original work, offering listeners even more of auditory pleasure.

moscow based multi-talent impish has been steadily honing his skills working through labels such as program, c.i.a. and his own fast rising occulti music imprint. it’s that last label that saw him release the critically acclaimed “silence” lp back in 2016. fast forward to the autumn of 2017 and a new album project the “hush” lp is set for release through all quality physical electronic music outlets around the world. being the perfectionist that he is, impish continues to impress working on crystal clear music productions where impeccable drum work is combined with organic touches and progressions.
the second “hush” lp sampler features three cuts of the album. first up the well respected irish drum & bass producer zero t takes up remix duties for “solid”, turning the stripped back original stepper into a wavey hard hitter with the remixer’s sound plastered all over. continuing with “let me” featuring uk based vocalist kate wild things heat up quickly where soaring bass sounds complimented by soulful vocals and tech-like stabs make for an intense drum & bass experience. last but not least we find the original mix for “solid” featuring fellow moscow based vocalist julia marks. it’s an easy listening, thoughtful piece of drum & bass with driving beats for the dance floor but harmonies for the mind and soul.

the third instalment of our amenizer series continues in the same vein as the previous two, with a generous serving of every junglist’s favourite breakbeat, on a no frills white label vinyl, with an undercover artist providing the ammunition. jedi hi-fi is an alias of one of our core foundation x family members, and if you listen keenly it shouldn’t be too hard to work out who is responsible for these four cuts, with a trademark jungle sound which is heavily influenced by 80 s jamaican dancehall sound systems and 70 s dub production..... reggae reggae sauce – as the vocal says “serious damage” and that’s what this track will do no questions asked..... sound check 1 – dubwise from start to finish, the signature sounds ofjedi hi-fi are evident throughout from the top to the very last drop. sound check 2 – jazzy intro vibes soon give way to a head nod amen patternand creation discoteq vocal samples bounce in between the beats and bass. problems – the final track of the ep sees some expert echo chamber work.

david mayer needs little introduction. affiliated with the flourishing keinemusik label his output as a producer and a dj over the last 9 years has been massive, forging his name as an expert in percussive precision funked up and pounding 4/4 driven deep techno and house. his recent remix of connected release ‘lust’ (tigerskin and k.e.e.n.e feat elli) was testament to his classic treatment resulting in a huge track that featured heavily on dancefloors worldwide.

french artist franck kartell returns with alaska, his fourth full length release on uk imprint bass agenda recordings. critically acclaimed for his masterful blend of low bpm heavy beats and signature deep atmospheres kartell moves from the fascination with the work of film maker chris marker’s that powered his last two albums to the drama of alaska. like its geographical namesake the album spans ethereal beauty, drama, light and darkness and similarly provides a very individual landscape.

bleeds second release of the year is a fourth solo outing for label head volte-face, following up last year s incendiary you bury me 12inch. in classic bleed fashion, the ep features three atmospheric peak-time techno tracks, an ambient piece and an artist-curated remix by rising japanese star wata igarashi, a name synonymous with some of the finest off-centre techno labels, including semantica, time to express and midgar.

drumcode continues its commitment to releasing the scene s most cutting-edge techno. with releases this year already from adam beyer, pig&dan, alan fitzpatrick, dense & pika and julian jeweil, this july sees the return of enrico sangiuliano with astral projection. after his remix of mobys of why does my heart feel so bad back in november last year, enrico sought creative inspiration from his travels, transcending that into his productions and long studio sessions during the winter months. the result brings a mind and body melting release from the italian producer. the title track astral projection is a captivating, big room techno masterpiece. deep reverberations punch alongside a sinisterly crisp percussive drive. launching into a groove laden synth modulation of low end textures, it breaks down into an ethereal amalgamation of pads and synths before the vocal launches, taking this track to another level. ‘blooming era has destructive dancefloor intent. there is no holding back with the low end synth modulation which enrico has mastered to perfection. a tightly woven percussive flare moulds flawlessly with the rolling oscillations of the beast of this track. if you have seen label head honcho adam beyer playing anywhere on the globe in the last 5 months, this has been a peak time favourite. road-tested to the max, and with much success.

since his last appearance on hemlock (2015 s double ep hek025) hodge has produced a seemingly effortless sequence of celebrated eps and collaborations for livity sound, berceuse heroique and no corner. equally comfortable squaring up with heavyweights such as randomer and peder mannerfelt as he is maintaining a prolific solo production output, hodge has cemented himself as a leading voice in uk dance music and a champion of the elusive sweet spot where functional techno resonates with soundsystem culture. a quick listen through his recent ra mix is a great way to keep up to speed with his recent output. one for the hemlock fans who have been patiently tolerating this year s more experimental cuts. swing for the fences is straight down to business getting the kicks in below one of those ear-wormer percussive atonal toplines hodge does so well… the drop is one of the heaviest we ve heard this year and tipped to raise some fingers, open mouths and spill drinks across dancefloors and tv studios worldwide. less pool cue more pool party aomame is a breezy melodic (patio) heater powered by tough drums and intricate percussive work. arranged for both the dancers and the heads it freely refreshes and translates the main theme with a precision and playfulness that few producers can match. medway will warm up or cool out the dance with big room sirens and some rude detuned drum work. still no messing about on the b2: it s a hodge thing all the way.

this is my best album for sure, says todd. we cant be exactly sure on that one, all three albums from todd bodine have been great. forms however, is perhaps the most complex and mature album that the berlin producer and dj has accomplished to date. and its also out with us! todd has worked at full speed over the last six months to bring us this fine piece of work. as a dj playing around the world and as a producer in the highest ranks of consistency, todd bodine has constantly developed as an artist. releases and remixes on respected labels, and collaborations with various artists have made him an internationally popular electronic musician. in 2007 he finally began to perform as a live act, and what club would better fit todds new live premiere than the panorama bar in berlin!? todd shows with forms, his innate knowledge of the two sides of electronic dance music. this is a meeting of peaktime euphoria with the relaxing bliss of the hazy morning light. a meeting of hypnotic natural rhythms and driving cut-up sounds. todd can impress you with dancefloor bombs and also with his sophisticated sound visions. the sound of detroit would probably be the best comparison.

it had been four years since juxtaposition, radians last record. chimeric is not a polished album. within the context it is raw, broken, even dark sometimes. steady, multiple rhythms, layered on top of each other disappear into chaos and turn back into discreet structures in the next moment. references of rock music, executed with the precision of a sequencer, mutated, restructured. a lot on this album is about control and the loss of control. the risk of failure. but chimeric is much more free. some of the longer pieces are composed of very different parts and different colours along a continuous timeline. they tend to evolve in a narrative form and are moving through various scenes and surroundings, which is also present in the spacial relationship between the instruments.

hot on the heels of their role on correspondant compilation five, mexican maestros zombies in miami return to jennifer cardini’s label once again this summer with two supreme space-aged head jams. following recent disco excursions on hippie dance and bordello a parigi, the duo retreat to the shadier, heavyweight side of their signature with ‘take control’ and ‘last gun’. ‘take control’ is a glacial creeper laced with frosty electroid synths and a smouldering hypnotic beat while ‘last gun’ firms our focus on the looming lower tones, creating an ominous fog for the sunlight arpeggios to climb through evocatively. complete with on-point remixes from the lipsky brothers’ simple symmetry and benedikt frey & nadia d’alo’s init project, this will have you taking control for a long time to come.

in the first ep we find the italian re_p opening the record, a rough version from an original melodic track solved with class. the veteran japanese artist go hiyama is following with a playful remix that hooks you from the beginning and shows the new direction of his sound. on the other side we find the industrial guys from serbia, ontal, which deliver an experimental strong heavy track that breaks any conventionalism in a brilliant way. and are delivering the last track of the ep, an old school techno style track at his best as the british duo likes, a peak time track to end perfectly this first record of remixes.

it has been eleven long years since urbs dropped his last album which was called “toujours le meme film”. back then, the musician, dj and producer created the soundtrack to a fictitious film noir, which was released on kruder & dorfmeister‘s g-stone label, but after touring europe he almost completely retreated from public life. he does not consider his creativity as being his career, but rather as a part of his life which rarely is subject to concrete planning, and that is why urbs quite consciously took his time to create his latest –untitledalbum.

little is known about medicis, other than he last appeared back in 2015 on lazare hoche alongside voltery. on this, his second 12-, he strikes out on his own for the parisian deep house stable with some of that refined, head-tweaking groove fodder that has broadly defined the label since it started. -vilaroel- features shimmering tones that call to mind point g at his dubbiest, while -dissfreq- takes a sweeter route into dreamy pads and lightly shuffling drums. -carrier- is a darker, techier affair with plenty of hypnotic elements spinning in the mix, and then mdecisi old friend voltery lands a hand on the downtempo delights of -guda-.

we at finale sessions are excited to have french producer anaxander and finale sessions owner michael zucker together for this deep house jewel ! we start with anaxander and his track stabs of love one of the best tracks on the ep with drums from another planet and its stabing chords the permiate the dance floor ! and wicked hi hats that shread through this massive track. then we move to anaxander s other track heart to heart which gives this record a sense of deepness with it s percussions and its rythmatic keys then we move to michael zuckers first track greator is he another jem off this massive ep and we start with the melodic keys and pads that give this track a very persusive sound and a very potent late night dance floor killer top to bottom. last but not least we have michael zuckers missing you this one is a floor stomper for sure with hard kicking drums and its filtering keys and its punch love dub sound which gives this record the hardness to stand its ground.

get 2 know nicky benedek: a producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and dj. his compositions bridge the nebulous territories of house, boogie, hip-hop, jazz-fusion and experimental new age. born and bred in los angeles, benedek began pulling inspiration from the city’s structural and visual dichotomies at a young age. he picked up a guitar at 9 years-old, taking note of any and all sonic surroundings, from prevalent west coast g-funk to the synthesized sound effects in video games to a herbie hancock record pulled from his dad’s collection. amongst a complex set of influences, funk took a hold on his heart by high school. bene’s world is benedek’s second leaving records release, following last year’s coolin’ ep as well as a full-length debut on the influential peoples potential unlimited label. his catalogue also includes collaborations with dam-funk, delroy edwards and tom noble. recorded between his koreatown studio and the west la home he grew up in, bene’s world captures the characteristically-la mingling of urban action and canyon seclusion.
